Keyboard Shortcuts
The layout-correct shortcut behavior is available from rc.2-r3. Use the shortcut panel’s displayed glyphs for your keyboard layout and saved overrides; a different owner’s older release can behave differently. See Releases.
macOS defaults
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Zoom out | ⌘− — native browser zoom |
| Zoom in | ⌘+ — native browser zoom |
| Reset zoom | ⌘0 — native browser zoom |
| Open shortcut panel | ⌘⌥/ on a US layout; ⌘⌥− on a German layout |
| New session | ⌘⌥N |
| Settings | ⌘⌥, |
The panel shortcut is primary + Option + the physical Slash key. On German keyboards that key prints −; the displayed keycap therefore differs from the US /. The plain ⌘−, ⌘+, and ⌘0 events belong to the browser, including in the composer and dialogs. The shortcut recorder does not capture them.
Saved bindings and punctuation
Opening the panel uses ⌘⌥/ rather than plain ⌘/ so the German ⌘− zoom chord remains reachable. Existing custom bindings are preserved and take precedence over new defaults; use the panel’s reset control if an old override conflicts with browser zoom.
Recorded punctuation preserves both the physical key code and printed glyph, so a layout’s −, +, ,, or @ can display correctly without changing key identity. Do not infer a binding from a US keycap alone. Registered primary + Option commands also handle the layout’s dead-key event; unregistered dead keys pass through normally.
Studio and navigation
- Inside Studio, Command/Control + Enter requests generation, arrows move among results, and Esc closes the active lightbox, comparison, or review layer with focus return.
- Native modal/menu Esc and Tab handling stays in charge of its own layers.
- The sidebar’s keyboard-accessible session rows are available from rc.2-r11: Tab to a row, press Enter to open it, or focus More and press Enter for its menu; Esc returns focus. See Themes and Sidebar.
Folder, search, and active-View focus
Folder rows, search results and Gallery/Studio views are keyboard-operable from rc.2-r14. Folder/search keyboard paths first arrived in rc.2-r12: Tab to a folder, use Enter/Space to expand or collapse, arrows and Home/End to navigate, or focus More for its menu. In search, Down/Up selects results while focus stays in the combobox; Enter opens the result; Esc closes the results before the phone drawer.
From rc.2-r13-g2, Enter on the already-open Chat session focuses its composer, phone navigation closes the drawer, and keyboard Clear search returns to Search sessions. From rc.2-r14, Gallery/Studio focus instead goes through the active View owner to its first visible enabled action, or its container if no action exists; the Search toggle has a painted inset focus ring. These fixes do not imply that every owner has upgraded. In r14 Studio, the initial action is the Gallery sub-tab; pressing Enter again can switch to Gallery.
Keyboard routing is not a promise that a backend submit or cancellation has completed. Read the native request result, and authorize model/image work separately.
